For MWI to work, the unity ports and MWI on/off numbers should have a CSS that included the phone lines.
For MWI to work, the unity ports and MWI on/off numbers should have a CSS that included the phone lines.
TRAP uses the Default Outdial Restriction table.
a. setup meetme conference, conf bridge as necessary. Let meetme number be 1900
b. setup a route point for calls from external and internal callers as the dial-in bridge number. Let this be 1800. Cfwdall this CTI route point to voice mail.
c. Setup a Call handler meetme in Unity. Under transfer settings, tell it to ring subscriber at extn 1900. Use Supervise transfer and Check Ask Caller’s name option.
d. Create a call routing rule under forwarded calls in Unity, and set teh Forwarding station to be 1800 (CTIRP). Attempt a transfer to callhandler meetme that you just created in step c.
Unity will ask the caller his name and transfer him to the conference bridge. Conference bridge members who already have joined the conference will hear, “Call from <callername>”
Under caller input page, lock a key (0 through 9, * #) to a particular action if you want Unity to perform that action as soon as you press that key. The “Allow callers to dial an extension durin greeting” has no effect if the keys are locked. To allow callers to dial an extension during the greeting, dont lock the key to a particular action
If you have any of your keys set to Ignore key, the greeting that is played is usually System greeting “I do not recognize that as a valid selection”. This is the Error greeting. Expose the Error greeting using Advanced Settings tool from Tools Depot and you can re-record the Error greeting to a message of your choice.
The following tip may be utilized when you are asked to forward a call from CM / CME to Voicemail and have the caller leave a message. Then the message should be delivered to multiple user inboxes and also light up mwi on the appropriate phones.
a. Setup CM/CME to forward calls to VM. (say a route point with number 1005)
b. Create a PDL in Unity with members as the individual subscribers who needs to receive the message.
c. Create a Callhandler CH with number 1005. Go to Messages – > Message recipient and select this PDL you created in step 2.
To disable trivial password check go to
Subscriber > Account Policy > Check against trivial passwords for extra security
When you set rules in Restriction tables, it will take effect only for additions and changes from that point. It does not consider the existing settings.
So if you had a subscriber who was set to transfer to his home number and you created a new rule to restrict all local and long distance calls, still the user will be able to transfer calls to his home number. But any changes or additions will follow the new rules.
If a callhandler needs to transfer to a subscriber's extension (ring his extension)…
a. Say when key 1 is pressed, do an attempt transfer to subscriber.
b. Under the actual subscriber Call transfer settings, set it to ring subscriber's extension, rather than sending it to his greeting. (Very crucial)
When setting up multiple cluster integration, TRAP should be enabled only on one cluster.
To expose Unity Error greeting on Callhandlers, go to Unity Tools Depot -> Advanced Settings – > Expose error greeting for Subscriber on the SA (Under Administration). Set this parameter to 1 and restart Unity service.
Once you go to Callhandlers, greetings, you should see Standard, Closed, Alternate, Busy and Error greeting.
If the phone extension is 7000, but due to duplicate extension issues you add the user in Unity as 27000. To make MWI work, do the following
1. Set the Service Parameter > Multiple Tenant MWI Modes to True
2. Create a Translation Pattern to change 27000 to 7000. It is better to put this in a partition and add that partition to the CSS of the MWI ports.
Tools Depot > Diagnostics Tools > Directory Access Diagnostics
This tool will allow you to do User Creation Test and MailStore Access test to verify if the Unity Service accounts have access to create users and access the users mailbox.
Unity Tools Depot > Audio Text Manager > Extensions > Show all available extensions in a range
Unity Tools Depot > Audio Text Manager > Extensions > Find a Transfer String
Tools Depot > Audio Text Manager > File >View Schedules
From here you can change the schedule in 15 minute increments
1. Create a schedule named "Work hours" that includes Weekdays 8am-5pm Open and the remaining closed.
2. Create a schedule named "After hours" with the opposite setting of "Work hours"
3. Create a Callhandle named "Closed and Holiday CallHandler"
a. Schedule: Afterhours
b. Greetings: Standard – Record the greeting for closed hours
c. Greetings: Closed – Record the greeting for holidays
4. Create a Callhandler named "Opening CallHandler" with the following settings:
a. Schedule: Workhours
b. Greetings: Standard – record the greeting for regular office hours
c. Greetings: Closed – Use Blank greeting. After Greeting, send to greeting to CallHandler named "Closed and Holiday CallHandler"
If subscriber has Standard conversation, he needs to press 4-4 after the message has been played (including message footer).
If subscriber has Optional conversation1, he needs to press 8-8 after the message has been played (including message footer)
When subscriber (called) presses 4-4 or 8-8, Unity checks the original subscriber's (who left the voice message) transfer settings and sends the call based on his transfer settings. You may have to change the setting from "Send to greeting" To "Ring subscriber's extension" or "Ring subscriber at XXXX".
Voicemail box mask will change the Calling number, Dialed number and Forwarding number.
Scenario: You want to send calls directly to the voicemail box of X 3000 without ringing the phone
1. Create a Voicemail Profile with mask XXXX
2. Create a CTI port with extension *3000
3. Use the Voicemail Profile created in step 1
4. Set the CFA to voicemail
1. Dial an extension from opening greeting.
Advanced settings tool > Networking – Set AutoAttendant Search Scope
Default – only search local callhandlers and subscribers even if server is part of a dialing domain
Options – search all servers in the same dialing domain
2. Directory Handler
SAWEB > Callmanagement > Directory Handler > Search options
Local unity server
Location
Dialing domain
Class of Service
Public Distribution List
3. When a subscriber logs on to Unity and hit option 2 to send a message
SAWeb > Primary Location > Addressing options
Local Server
Dialing Domain
Global Directory
Three places to change this
1. For outside callers
Subscriber > Messages > Taking messages from outside callers > Maximum message length
Subscriber Template > Messages > Taking messages from outside callers > Maximum message length
Default: 300 seconds
2. For subscribers
Class of Service > Messages > Maximum length of message subscribers can record
Default: 300 seconds
3. Advanced Settings Tool > Conversation > Maximum recording time – This value defines the maximum that can be set from the Unity administration pages
Default: 1200 seconds
When a message is set as Private, Unity does not give the option to forward the message. (option 5 for forward is not available)
But you can forward the message from Microsoft outlook.
To send a private message, you need to logon and
option 2 – send message
## – to change to dial by number
enter the number
press # to add to the list
enter 3 for message options
enter 3 for delivery options
enter 3 to mark as private
enter # to record
Private message will be encrypted.
To enable message encryption
1. For a single subscriber > Subscriber > Features > When sending a message by phone > Encrypt all messages marked private
2. For a group of subscribers > Subscriber Template > Features > When sending a message by phone > Encrypt all messages marked private
3. System wide > Tool Depot > Advanced Settings Tool > Conversation – Enable Private and Secure messaging
1. Directory selection after you login and use option 2 to send a message
This can be tweaked using the Advanced Settings Tool
2. Directory selection when using the Directory handler
This can be tweaked using the Unity Admin page > Call Management > Directory Handler > Match List options > Announce Matched Names using settings
1. Internal – If the caller is a Subscriber, will play internal greeting 24*7. This greeting is never played to external callers.
2. Busy – If the called party is busy, then this greeting is played to both internal and external callers.
3. Alternate – If enabled, will override every other greeting.
4. Standard greeting- During business hours will play this greeting to external callers. This will be used for internal callers if Internal is not set.
5. Closed greeting – After business hours will play this greeting to external callers. This will be used for internal callers if Internal is not set.
SMTP connector
Disadvantage
1. Cisco Unity voice attributes are not preserved. Hence the voicemail shows up as a wav attachment and cannot be read using VMO
Voice connector. Preserves Cisco Unity voice attributes. Hence voicemail can be opened using VMOVPIM
1. Extend AD Schema for VPIM
2. Install Internet Voice Connector
3. Check Install SMTP Transport Event Sink on one of the Exchange servers – the server that will receive incoming mails
4. Internet Voice Connector will convert voicemails to G726 format.
5. Unity is able to accept from a VPI compliant messaging system messages that are encoded using G711, G726 and GSM standards. The default is G.726.
